On August 21st, 2019, I had the opportunity to travel from Charikot to various places in eastern Nepal. I had planned this trip for some time, primarily for personal reasons, but I also had a second optional work to address. Early in the morning on the day of travel, I went to the bus counter to reserve a seat and bought a ticket for Itahari. After that, I went home to prepare for the trip. I packed extra clothes, extra socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a diary, pen, cell phone charger, power bank, earphones, cap, umbrella, camera, camera batteries, camera battery charger, extra lens, monopod, and a small tripod. I had lunch at home and headed to the bus station at around noon. The bus departed from Charikot at 1 pm, and I met some known and unknown people on the bus, including a man from Lamidanda of Dolakha who was also headed to Itahari.

After an hour, the bus stopped at Nayapul, and later at Golanjor of Sindhuli for snacks. We passed through Sindhuligadi, Singhulimadi, Bhiman, and Kamalamai, and reached Bardibas, where we took a short nap. While others were sleeping, I tried some long-exposure photography, although I couldn’t capture the best shots at that time. After the nap, we resumed our journey, and the bus reached Bhantabari at 10 pm. We had dinner and stayed there for 3-4 hours before resuming the journey. I arrived in Itahari at about 2:30 am and then went to Gothgaun, Morang, where I arrived at 3 am. I walked around and captured some long-exposure and sunrise photographs, which are in my gallery. Later, I went to Salakpur, Biratchok, where I took some street photographs, also in my gallery. I finished my work around 10:30 am and had some spare time.

I decided to visit Koshi barrage, which I had heard about. I had already reserved a seat on the night bus back to Charikot. From Gothgaun, I headed towards Biratnagar, but the city’s roads were full of tobacco packets and waste, which was not what I expected. I stayed there for only 5 minutes and then returned to Itahari. I had 6 hours left before the bus, so I went to Inaruwa and stayed for half an hour before taking a micro and heading towards Koshi barrage for long-exposure photography. I reached there at 5 pm and stayed near the Koshi river, capturing the sunset and dawn. The sunset was particularly breathtaking, and I stayed for about 4 hours, trying the local Jhinge and Kati fish, which were delicious. I carried my Canon 700D with 18-55 mm and 55-250 mm STM lenses and a small tripod. This trip gave me a unique experience of traveling on a night bus from Charikot to Gothgaun, and I plan to post a detailed travel experience on my blog.
